Production of chemically and microwave activated hazelnut husk as an adsorbent for dye contaminated wastewaters

چکیده

Adsorption has traditionally been evaluated as an economical and easily applicable process for treating certain wastewaters, such ones including dyes heavy metals. Even though adsorbent materials specifically produced the purpose of wastewater treatment commercially exist, production cost may create economic burden on processes. Agricultural wastes can be valorized adsorbents in adsorption The capacity these improved via pre-treatment methods chemical application microwave irradiation. This study investigated potential applicability hazelnut husk methylene blue (MB) dye. To this purpose, was activated by sequential or water applications. Structural analysis performed Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR) field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Isotherm (Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin Harkins-Jura isotherms) kinetic (pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich intraparticle diffusion models) behaviours were also evaluated. results indicated that MB could removed 92-94% considering all produced. Further isotherm studies revealed both physically chemically induced, reaction followed pseudo-second-order model (R2>0.99).

Activated Carbon from Olive Wastes as an Adsorbent for Chromium Ions Removal

Adsorption of Chromium ions (VI) and (III) in aqueous solution was investigated using activated carbon prepared from olive wastes, by one step physical activation with steam. After adsorbent material characterization using adsorption capacity of methylene blue, iodine and phenol, BET surface area, Fourier Transform InfraRed (FT-IR) spectroscopy, pHpzc, surface functions based on the Boehm m...

Removal of Manganese(II) from Aqueous Solution by Chemically Activated Thuja Occidentalis Leaves Carbon (CATLC) as an Adsorbent: Adsorption Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies

In this research paper, chemically activated Thuja Occidentalis leaves carbon (CATLC) is used as an adsorbent for the expulsion of Mn(II) from aqueous solution. CATLC is characterized by FTIR, SEM and EDX. The effect of pH, initial Mn(II) concentration, CATLC dosage and contact time on the adsorption performance of CATLC for Mn(II) ions are examined by batch studies. The results reveal that CAT...

Chemically Modified Eggshell Membrane as an Adsorbent for Solid-Phase-Extraction of Morphine Followed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography Analysis

In this project, eggshell membrane was used as a solid phase extraction sorbent for extraction of morphine followed by HPLC analysis. At first, raw eggshell membrane was used and then, because of low adsorption of morphine on untreated eggshell membrane (<70%), modification of eggshell membrane surface was carried out using different surfactants and amines. The amine modified eggshells characte...
